New Recycling Carts to Be Delivered to Roseburg Residents Starting in April

On This Post

Residents in Roseburg will soon receive upgraded recycling carts as part of a citywide rollout aimed at improving waste management services.

Roseburg Disposal announced it will distribute more than 10,000 new carts beginning in April. Each household will receive a container equipped with wheels for easier handling and a secure lid to help keep recyclable materials clean and dry.

Along with the carts, customers will be provided with informational packets that include a recycling guide, collection schedule, and program details. The updated system will follow a biweekly pickup schedule, with residents able to begin using their new carts starting the week of May 4 on their regular collection day.

The initiative is supported by Circular Action Alliance Oregon through the state’s Extended Producer Responsibility program. This program requires manufacturers to help fund recycling improvements and has contributed nearly $2 million toward new equipment, including carts and recycling trucks.

Local officials say the updated system is designed to simplify recycling and increase participation. Residents are encouraged to place accepted materials—such as paper, cardboard, certain plastics, and metal—into the carts loose, clean, and dry to ensure efficient processing.

Glass will not be collected curbside but can still be dropped off at designated transfer locations within the county.

Oregon’s recycling modernization efforts aim to create a more efficient and sustainable system while reducing costs and improving environmental outcomes across the state.
