VANCOUVER, WASHINGTON — Police are continuing to investigate and search for a suspect after a late-night shooting in a Vancouver neighborhood early Saturday morning left a 20-year-old man hospitalized.

According to the Vancouver Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:20 a.m. to reports of a shooting in a parking lot in the 11800 block of Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard. The initial caller reported that a person had been shot and the suspect had fled the scene before police arrived.

When officers reached the location, they found a 20-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. His current condition has not been released.

Following the shooting, police conducted an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhood. A canine unit was deployed as officers canvassed the area for the suspect, but no arrests were made and the alleged shooter was not located.

Authorities said the suspect fled immediately after the incident, and investigators are still working to determine a description and possible motive.

The Vancouver Police Department’s Major Crimes Team has taken over the investigation and will continue gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing any available surveillance footage from the area.

As of now, no additional details about the suspect or circumstances leading up to the shooting have been released.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators as the search continues.
