The owner of a Miami car dealership has been arrested following a seven-hour probe by Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) officials on Wednesday.

Aslan Abdullayev, 37, was detained by the New York FBI division and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) auto crimes task force after a search warrant was executed at his firm, Cube Motors.

According to neighbors, FBI agents arrived at Cube Motors, located near Northwest 79th Street and Third Avenue in Miami, at 6 a.m. Wednesday.

According to Abdullayev’s arrest report, police discovered a 2019 Mercedes with a Texas license plate number, which was reported stolen by the New York Police Department on May 18, 2025. They claim that a check of the vehicle found that Abdullayev replaced the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) with a different label, which they characterize in the report as of “inferior quality than those manufactured and applied by the Mercedes-Benz group.”

Abdullayev is facing several accusations, including grand larceny, selling a vehicle with an altered ID, and forging a VIN decal. His total bond was set at $12,500, but he remains in custody owing to an immigration hold.

FBI investigators were sighted inside Cube Motors’ gate, photographing vehicles as well as the business itself.

Video from the scene early Wednesday morning showed FBI officers at the establishment, with one man stepping out of the facility with his hands up and another being questioned while handcuffed.

Both have now been freed, and CBS News Miami crews observed about five automobiles being hauled from the business. It is unclear whether Abdullayev was one of those persons, or if any of the other vehicles were also stolen.

An FBI spokesperson informed CBS News Miami that the inquiry was part of a court-ordered law enforcement operation in the area.

City of Miami police stated they were not involved in the investigation, but Miami-Dade police said they were on scene on Wednesday.

After the FBI agents left, the store was closed and a padlock was placed on the front gate.
