A “severe” thunderstorm with dangerously high wind gusts and large hail is approaching the East Coast.
The National Weather Service announced on Monday, May 11, that the Carolinas are prepared for a severe thunderstorm.
The storm, which could bring 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail, is headed toward Wilmington, North Carolina. Northern South Carolina, in particular, may suffer significant damage.
“Vehicles may sustain minor hail damage. “Expect wind damage to trees and power lines,” the alert says.
“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.”
Myrtle Beach, Conway, North Myrtle Beach, Myrtle Beach Airport, Socastee, Red Hill, Little River, North Myrtle Beach Airport, Cherry Grove Inlet, Little River Entrance, Springmaid Pier, Hickory Grove, Homewood, Horry Georgetown Technical College Conway Campus, Barefoot Landing Area Of North Myrtle Beach, Nixonville, Bucksport, Dongola, Wampee, and Cherry Grove Beach are among the specific locations that could be impacted.
