Local and federal agents, some wearing tactical gear, have traveled to Los Angeles for an active narcotics operation.
On Thursday, June 4, FOX 11 crews were in MacArthur Park while police enforcement, including the DEA, was on the scene. According to officials, 13 persons were arrested in Thursday’s bust, which was largely focused on suspected fentanyl possession and alleged fentanyl distributors. In Thursday’s raid, six more people were cited.
Several individuals were already handcuffed while the active inquiry was underway. Authorities told FOX 11’s crew that law enforcement agents were on the scene to arrest individuals who were in possession of or using drugs.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman affirms that law police would remain at MacArthur Park indefinitely. It’s critical to see and ensure that people understand that the DEA, together with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, federal law enforcement, and local law enforcement, are here to stay,” Hochman said Thursday. “This will not be a one-day operation. It won’t be a one-week surgery. It will happen over and over again.”
According to Hochman, the ongoing operation will involve more than simply law enforcement personnel. The idea is that law enforcement will collaborate with community organizations. So we’ll deal with the criminal part of the operation, those who are doing a variety of crimes, such as drug dealers, narcotics traffickers, gangs, and so on,” the DA said.
Thursday’s narcotics operation comes barely a month after federal officials said they arrested more than a dozen people and discovered approximately $10 million worth of fentanyl. During the May 2026 inquiry, the First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California pledged to increase safety at MacArthur Park. On May 6, Essayli stated, “Today, we begin recovering MacArthur Park from criminals and drug users, returning this public place to the inhabitants of Los Angeles. ” Together with our federal and local law enforcement partners, we are executing multiple arrest and search warrants targeting those who are distributing drugs in and around the park.”
