A Chicago man accused of assaulting a woman in her house, stealing her purse, and then striking her with a vehicle has been arrested after turning himself in, authorities said.
Rovell Young, 33, was wanted in connection with a May 25 hit-and-run in the 9000 block of West Oaks Avenue in unincorporated Maine Township, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
According to investigators, Young attacked the woman inside her home, grabbed her pocketbook, and then struck her with his white Hyundai Elantra, causing significant injuries. Authorities said he fled the scene before officers arrived.
Chicago police helped the sheriff’s office identify Young as the suspect. On June 1, he surrendered to detectives from the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities have not disclosed any other information regarding the victim’s condition or whether she and Young knew each other.
Young is accused of attempted murder, aggravated domestic assault, robbery, and obstruction, according to the sheriff’s office.
Following his initial court appearance in Skokie on June 3, a judge ordered Young kept at the Cook County Jail for additional proceedings.
