Chai Vang, the man convicted in the 2004 Wisconsin “Tree Stand Killings” that left six people dead and two others injured, has died in prison.

Vang, who was sentenced to six life sentences in connection with the killings, died at age 57, according to a June 10 status change posted on the Wisconsin Circuit Court Access page.

A jury found Vang guilty of six counts of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of attempted first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the November 21, 2004, shootings in northern Wisconsin.

Vang shot the group of hunters after they confronted him for trespassing.

Vang killed Bob and Joey Crotteau, Denny Drew, Al Laski, Mark Roidt, and Jessica Willers.

Vang pleaded not guilty on all charges, claiming self-defense. A jury convicted him on Sept. 16, 2005.
