A single-car crash in Bronzeville killed two people and injured four others on Sunday night, according to Chicago police.
The incident happened around 11:50 p.m. in the 4700 block of South State Street.
According to police, a 28-year-old man driving a grey sedan lost control and collided with a fire hydrant while travelling east on 47th Street.
Two passengers, a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene, according to authorities.
A third passenger, a 21-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Centre and was listed in critical condition, authorities said.
A fourth passenger, a 26-year-old guy, was taken to Stroger Hospital and classified in fair condition, authorities said.
According to authorities, a 23-year-old lady was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Centre and is in good health.
Police claimed a sixth passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was treated on the scene.
The car’s driver was not wounded and was taken into custody, police said. Charges are pending.
