A Maryland man said that his “last-second” choice to buy a ticket for that evening’s Powerball drawing resulted in him winning $50,000.
The Carroll County man informed Maryland Lottery authorities that he was filling up his gas tank on June 15 when he remembered the lottery. As I waited for the tank to fill, I remembered it was Powerball night, and Powerball is the game I play the most,” he explained.
The man originally refrained from purchasing a ticket at Sykesville Convenience Store on Sandosky Road. At the last minute, I parked at the convenience shop and entered. “I was so close to just leaving,” the athlete admitted.
He scanned his ticket a few days after the drawing and was originally unsure if he won. It instructed me to take the ticket to the lottery,” he explained. “I thought the machine was broken.”
The player attempted to scan the ticket at another store the next day, and a salesperson explained that the message indicated he had won a large sum.
After pocketing his ticket, he planned to attempt it at another store the next day. “I was excited when she told me that, but I didn’t fully believe it,” he admitted.
The ticket won $50,000 in the third-tier category. I tried to shout and say anything. “It just wouldn’t come,” the winner stated when he understood the size of his award.
