Two Maryland men were taken into custody on Monday after police discovered a stolen handgun and marijuana in the van they were selling frozen meat from.

Mylique Fisher of Baltimore and Malik Wilson of Essex were arrested along Glenview Avenue on Monday afternoon after a concerned bystander alerted authorities.

According to Detective Sgt. Justin Scalzo, Greensburg officers determined during their first investigation that Wilson, the passenger, had an active arrest warrant in York County and Fisher, the driver, was under the influence of a controlled substance.

Officers found marijuana and two firearms in the vehicle, one of which had been stolen from an Alabama man, Scalzo stated.

“We’re lucky, in this case, that that concerned citizen called because it actually led to a pretty good arrest,” Scalzo added. He also said it’s unclear where the meat Wilson and Fisher were attempting to sell came from or if anyone bought any.

Scalzo stated that the initial contact to police was triggered by the men’s lack of a solicitation permit, which the city requires.

“Anybody coming to your door and trying to sell you something in the city of Greensburg, they have to have a solicitation permit,” Scalzo added. He advised citizens to always request a permit for their protection when contacted by a salesperson.

Fisher and Wilson are being incarcerated in Westmoreland County Prison.

Fisher is being jailed on $35,000 bail. His accusations include receiving stolen property, carrying a concealed firearm without a license, driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wilson is being jailed on a $2,500 bail. His allegations include possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
