Glendale police say a woman who was reported missing earlier this month has been found dead near Lake Pleasant, and a man is being held in connection with her death.
Arianna Jones, 21, was last seen at her apartment near 59th and Northern avenues. When her family went to check on her, they discovered damage to her front door, but she was not present. Her family has not communicated with her since July 5.
According to police reports, Jones’ family was afraid that she had been taken without her will.
The family reported that a broken cell phone was discovered in the apartment, her money was missing, and her dog was discovered in a kennel without food or water. Family members said that routine video calls to her small child, who was staying with them at the time, had stopped, and their messages were no longer recognized as “read,” raising more concerns about her safety.
A buddy informed police that she had intended to meet “an acquaintance” for a movie. Police say Domonic Rodolico took Jones up from her apartment and never returned.
Police claim they used video footage and vehicle alarm systems, and that his cell phone position changed alongside Jones’ phone whereabouts. Investigators determined that her cell phone was last pinged around Lake Pleasant early on July 6.
Police claim “extensive” data was studied in this case, and they believe Rodolico “went to an extremely remote, secluded, and undeveloped location near Lake Pleasant Parkway and W. Old Carefree Highway, with no apparent legitimate reason for being there,” before picking Jones up from her apartment. Data showed that Rodolico visited the spot three times that day.
On Saturday, July 11, authorities discovered “decomposing human remains in this area, along with additional evidence,” such as movie theater cups and garments.
Police said Jones and Rodolico’s relationship is still being investigated, but it appears the two exchanged a few short phone calls over a few weeks after connecting on social media.
According to documents, Rodolico was later seen cleaning out his car and seemed to have a bandaged wound on his arm or hand.
Rodolico reportedly told police that he and the victim were approached by unknown guys and “jumped,” but he was unable to provide further information. Police said his story changed as he was questioned.
Domonic premeditated and murdered the victim.Domonic refused to explain himself and showed no remorse, according to records.
The cause and suspected motive for Jones’ death are being investigated.
Rodolico was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree murder, according to Glendale police. Police said he’s being jailed on a $2 million cash bond.
