A Luzerne County mother and grandmother were sentenced to significant state prison terms on Wednesday after pleading guilty to crimes related to the frequent beating, restraint, and starvation of an 11-year-old child, according to Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday.

Amanda Gregorio, the child’s mother, was sentenced to ten to forty years in prison.

Gregorio had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, false detention, unlawful restraint, and conspiracy to jeopardise the welfare of a minor.

The child’s grandmother, Stacey Louder, was sentenced to eight to thirty years in prison.

Louder had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, wrongful restraint, and conspiracy to jeopardise the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors told the court that the girl was routinely beaten at home and deprived of proper nutrition. Investigators and prosecutors described the circumstances as a “travesty” at the sentence hearing, claiming that the kid had been failed by both her mother and grandmother.

“This home was supposed to be a safe haven for this child, but instead, the defendants turned it into a house of horrors,” Sunday said. He thanked the court by acknowledging the gravity of the assault and the long-term anguish imposed on the girl.

The abuse was discovered in August 2024, when emergency medical workers reacted to a complaint of a youngster having a seizure at home.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, medical specialists noticed bruising all over the girl’s body, as well as traces of additional violence and evidence of malnutrition.

Deputy Attorneys General Rachael Coleman and Mary Phillips prosecuted the cases.
