One person was killed and three others were hospitalized after a car veered off a San Fernando Valley freeway Saturday night.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. in Pacoima on the 118 Freeway near the San Fernando Road off-ramp, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Photos from the scene showed that the driver of a Toyota Corolla sedan left the roadway, traveled onto a shoulder embankment and crashed into a tree.
One person died at the scene. A second person was hospitalized in serious condition, while two others were taken to the hospital in fair condition.
Authorities did not release their identities, and the circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear.
Officials provided no additional details as the investigation remains ongoing.
