Middleton woman arrested with packaged marijuana allegedly ready for sale

A Middleton woman was taken into custody after being pulled over with numerous packages of marijuana under her backseat.

A deputy saw 37-year-old Alissa Conrad Reiter driving a black 2015 Chevrolet Silverado near the crossroads of State Road 44 and Interstate 75 in Wildwood at 10:05 a.m. Friday, according to an arrest report from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle’s front window tint was too dark, resulting in a traffic stop.

While evaluating the window tint, the deputy detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Reiter stated that there were no hemp or CBD products in the vehicle and that she had smoked marijuana earlier that day. She did not have a medicinal marijuana card, according to the report.

The deputy then demanded her driver’s license but was given an ID card instead. According to Dispatch, her driver’s license was suspended on May 17, 2022, and canceled on November 29, 2023.

At that point, the deputy searched the vehicle and discovered a grocery store bag under the rear seat. It had seven clear plastic bags of marijuana and a little digital scale with residue on it. According to the complaint, the marijuana measured 84.6 grams and appeared to have been packaged for sale.

Reiter was arrested on allegations of marijuana possession (more than 20 grams), marijuana with intent to sell, drug paraphernalia, and driving while license suspended. The Ohio native was booked into the Sumter County Detention Center and released after paying a $6,500 bond.
