Hillsborough County Deputies Catch 20 Drunk Drivers During Halloween Weekend “Operation Ghost Patrol”

Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputies arrested 20 impaired drivers over Halloween weekend as part of a targeted DUI enforcement effort formally designated “Operation Ghost Patrol.” The initiative was designed to safeguard pedestrians, families, and trick-or-treaters throughout the county during the holiday period.

Data released by the agency following the operation indicated that deputies conducted 219 traffic stops, issued 19 citations, and made 20 driving under the influence arrests over the course of the weekend.

“Irresponsible decisions, especially when so many children and our community were out celebrating Halloween, were met with arrest,” Sheriff Chad Chronister stated. “Over Halloween weekend, deputies arrested 20 impaired drivers and took them off our roadways.”

Authorities encouraged residents to plan responsibly for future celebrations by arranging a designated driver or securing a rideshare service in advance to ensure a safe return home.
