With less than 24 hours remaining before Tuesday’s election, veteran Democratic strategist James Carville delivered a sharp and unsparing Sunday broadcast, directing his criticism at party defectors, conservative operatives, and mainstream journalists alike.
Carville opened by targeting U.S. Representative Haley Stevens, accusing her of abandoning her pledged loyalty to the nominee after accepting political funds. He argued that she had compromised her integrity for far too little in return, and predicted that the decision had permanently destroyed her political standing.
“Lady, if you’re gonna sell your soul, you gotta get more for it than a cheeseburger,” Carville said, declaring her political career finished.
He then directed his attention toward conservative operative Stephen Miller, referencing a White House family photograph in which a seven-year-old child appeared dressed in a Russian soldier’s uniform. Carville characterized the imagery as “treason of the highest level,” framing it as a troubling indicator of dangerous loyalty shifts within the upper ranks of the Republican sphere.
Carville also condemned political reporters for pursuing trivial stories while the country stands at a critical electoral moment. He criticized outlets for fixating on minor controversies , such as counting desk seats in Texas State Representative James Talarico’s former classroom , while neglecting the broader democratic stakes at hand. He called on newsrooms to abandon reflexive attempts to present both sides equally in a race where, in his view, one side seeks to preserve the nation while the other actively destabilizes it.
Concluding his eleventh-hour appeal, Carville set aside the pundit class entirely and spoke directly to ordinary voters, urging them to stop deliberating, reach out to friends and family, and make their way to the ballot box on Tuesday.
