Water Main Break Closes Northbound Lane On Habana Avenue In Tampa

A broken water main has prompted the closure of a northbound lane and adjacent sidewalk on North Habana Avenue, with city officials announcing the emergency measure on Tuesday morning.

The Tampa Water Department initiated the shutdown of the outside northbound lane between West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Bel Aire Circle at 9 a.m. to conduct emergency repairs. Pedestrian access along the adjoining sidewalk has also been suspended for the duration of the work.

Authorities have positioned barricades and detour signs throughout the corridor to direct motorists safely through the construction zone. City officials are urging drivers traveling through the affected area to reduce their speed and exercise caution, emphasizing that traffic patterns may shift as repair work continues.

Crews anticipate completing the repairs and restoring normal traffic flow by 4 p.m. on Friday, November 6. Officials have noted, however, that the projected timeline remains subject to weather conditions, and workers may need to return at a later date to complete any outstanding work.
