A Tampa Police officer’s career is on the line after a DUI arrest late Saturday night. Kevin Casazza, a probationary officer with the agency, was pulled over and detained shortly before midnight on May 9, 2026.

The arrest took place during a traffic stop on Interstate 275 at the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit. Casazza was off duty at the time of the incident. Casazza had joined the department in 2025 and was still in the midst of his probationary training period.

Chief Lee Bercaw addressed the arrest on Sunday, underlining the department’s standards of its employees.

“This incident is deeply disappointing,” Bercaw said. “Every employee, on and off duty, is required to maintain the highest standards. That includes our officers following the same laws they pledged to uphold.”

Following the arrest, Casazza was promptly dismissed of duty.

While the criminal investigation into the DUI accusation continues, the Tampa Police Department has launched an internal probe into the matter.
