A resident of The Villages has claimed a winning lottery ticket worth more than $50,000, which he bought at a local grocery store over the weekend.
Anthony Nicoletti of the Village of Fenney won the top prize in the Florida Lottery’s Fantasy 5 evening drawing on Sunday, May 17. Nicoletti selected the cash option, resulting in a total payout of $50,724.99.
The winning ticket was purchased at Publix Super Market in Magnolia Plaza, which is located at 2135 Everglades Lane in The Villages. Nicoletti chose the winning numbers for the drawing (6, 19, 22, 34, and 35) rather than using a randomly produced “QuickPick” ticket.
Fantasy 5 is a daily game in which players choose five numbers from a pool of one to thirty-six. The top prize from Sunday’s evening drawing was split between two tickets that matched all five numbers. Moran Montgomery Mckenzie claimed the second winning ticket, which was sold at Saint Petersburg’s Maher Food Market.
Nicoletti’s triumph adds to a string of previous lottery victories in the area. Earlier this month, a 78-year-old Del Webb Spruce Creek homeowner in Summerfield won the top Fantasy 5 reward of $117,957.17 with a single ticket.
Additionally, a winning ticket for the same daily game was sold in January at the Pilot Travel Center, which is located just outside of The Villages.
