AKRON, Ohio — East Avenue is closed at the I-76/77 overpass due to a major gas leak, the Akron Fire Department announced.
The department posted the closure notice on its Facebook page at 10:55 a.m., urging everyone to avoid the area until further notice.
A fire department official told 3News that construction crews working at the scene struck and damaged the main line. Enbridge Gas, which has also responded to the scene, said crews are assessing the third-party damage that caused the leak.
