Man shot, killed during robbery at laundromat

A 43-year-old man died after being shot early Tuesday morning at an east-side business.

According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers were dispatched to the Laundry and Tan Connection at 2202 N. Mitthoefer Rd. around 1:11 a.m. after receiving a robbery report. While on their route, officers discovered that someone had been shot.

Police arrived to locate a man with gunshot wounds. He was sent to the hospital in critical condition before dying from his injuries.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified him as Robert Deon English Jr., age 43.

According to witnesses, several people were involved in an incident with English prior to the shooting.

Police were scouring the neighborhood for video footage and requesting community assistance in identifying the suspects.
