One person arrested after man shot to death inside car in Kansas City

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man inside a car early Sunday morning in South Kansas City.

According to the Kansas City Police Department, police were dispatched to the Longview Road and Belmont Avenue neighborhood at 1 a.m. to investigate a shooting.

When KCPD arrived, they discovered an unresponsive male with gunshot wounds inside a car.

Officers started conducting life-saving procedures until medical personnel arrived and took over treatment. They then sent the victim to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he died soon after arrival.

One person was arrested on the scene and brought in for questioning.

According to preliminary investigations, the victim was inside a home previous to the shooting and engaged in an “interaction” with one or more others. The altercation continued outside the house, where the victim entered a parked automobile before being shot.

Homicide detectives are currently seeking witnesses and evidence at the crime scene. They are not looking for any other suspects at the moment.
