Former La Grange police officer and son indicted in Oldham County domestic violence case

A former La Grange, Kentucky, police officer and his son were indicted on felony counts stemming from repeated domestic violence incidents, including strangulation.

Tyler Schneble, 19, was indicted by an Oldham County grand jury on three counts of first-degree strangulation, one count of tampering with a witness, one count of second-degree cruelty to animals, four counts of terroristic threatening, and one count of violating an Emergency Protective Order.

Tyler Schneble, according to court papers, repeatedly choked a victim, intimidated her, and harmed her cat between 2025 and 2026. The victim subsequently acquired an EPO, which Tyler Schneble breached.

Tyler Schneble’s father, Michael Schneble, 48, was also indicted on Friday, charged with one count of intimidating a lawful participant and four counts of first-degree official misconduct.

According to court records from May 2026, Michael Schneble threatened the same victim “in an attempt to influence her testimony, decision, or opinion.” “And, four times between July 2025 and October 2025, while serving as an officer for the La Grange Police Department, he failed to disclose domestic problems involving his son.

Tyler Schneble is now being held in the Oldham County Detention Center on a $7,000 bail.

Both males will be arraigned in Oldham County Circuit Court on July 23 at 11 a.m.
