Authorities identified and apprehended a suspect in connection with the stabbing death of 29-year-old Lonnie Shepherd Jr. at a restaurant over the weekend.

Traquan Munson, 25, has been put into jail on a second-degree murder charge, according to Phoenix Police Department.

On Saturday, officers responded to reports of a stabbing near 19th Avenue and Thomas Road. When police arrived, they discovered Shepherd with at least one stab wound on the ground outside a restaurant.

Shepherd was transferred to a local hospital and eventually died.

According to preliminary evidence, Munson and Shepherd engaged in an altercation that ended with Shepherd being stabbed.
