At least seven teenagers were shot in Chicago on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

One of the shootings in the Little Village area claimed the life of a teenage boy.

The gunshot occurred around 11:11 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Hamlin Avenue.

Ricardo Gomez’s girlfriend and mother meticulously placed candles where the 17-year-old died.

According to friends, Gomez was standing outside waiting for his girlfriend when a car went past and a gunman inside began firing. The youngster was shot in the head and chest, and both died at the nearby hospital.

A separate gunshot in the South Austin neighbourhood on Tuesday night injured three teenagers, according to authorities.

The gunshot occurred around 9:29 p.m. in the 200-block of South Central Avenue.

According to police, the victims were standing outside when a dark-coloured vehicle came by and someone inside fired rounds, striking the teenagers.

An 18-year-old guy was shot and sent to Mt Sinai Hospital, where he was classified in serious condition, police said.

Police said the woman was wounded in the left foot and sent to the University of Chicago Medical Centre, where she was listed in excellent condition. Further information about the shooting was not immediately available.
