A North Bay Village police officer was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly attacking her boyfriend at her Hialeah home after he stated that he “wanted to end things.”
According to an arrest record from the Hialeah Police Department, Officer Marcia Sangronis’ boyfriend approached officers on Tuesday morning to claim that he had been physically beaten.
According to the HPD report, the victim informed investigators that Sangronis, 38, becomes “angry and violent” when discussing “his lack of motivation to pursue a career in law enforcement.”
According to the report, he spent the nite at her house, and she brought up the subject the nite before the event and again when she awoke the next morning.
According to the report, he decided to leave at 11 a.m. and told her he wanted to end their relationship, after which she “became upset and stood in front of the doorway to prevent him from exiting the residence” and told him “you are not allowed to leave” as he attempted to grab for the doorknob.
“The victim attempted to flee again by reaching for the doorknob when (Sangronis) began to attack him. According to the report, the victim claimed she used her nails to scratch him many times on his arms, face, and back. “The victim also claimed she bit him many times on his left forearm. The victim stated that he was able to escape (Sangronis) and flee her home. The victim stated that she has been physically and emotionally abusive in the two years they have been together.
Police reported many injuries to the man’s “body, arms, and face.”
Sangronis’ comments to police was omitted from the report.
She was initially charged with aggravated battery inflicting serious bodily harm, a second-degree felony, but in court on Wednesday, a judge found probable cause for misdemeanor battery and granted her a $1,000 bond.
She was instructed to remain away from the victim.
According to records, she was being housed at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
Her social media posts show that she has been with the North Bay Village Police Department for roughly a year.
On Wednesday afternoon, the agency released a statement regarding Sangronis’ arrest, stating that she “has been relieved of duty with pay per our agency’s protocols.”
The statement went on to say that NBVPD “holds all of its personnel to the highest standards of conduct and fully accountable for their actions on and off duty.”
