Suspect Flees After Fatal Multi-Car Halloween Crash In Tampa

Tampa police are actively searching for a driver who fled the scene of a multi-vehicle crash late on Halloween night, an incident that claimed the life of one passenger and sent two others to the hospital.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:15 p.m. on October 31, 2026, after an unidentified driver operating a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche evaded a traffic stop near 13th Street and 28th Avenue. Authorities confirmed that officers did not pursue the fleeing vehicle.

The driver continued eastbound on East 28th Avenue, striking two parked and unoccupied vehicles along the way. The truck then ran through a stop sign before colliding with a 2019 Nissan Pathfinder, with the force of the impact pushing the Pathfinder into a nearby utility pole.

Following the collision, the driver abandoned the Avalanche and fled the scene on foot.

Three adults were occupying the Pathfinder at the time of the crash. A rear-seat passenger succumbed to injuries sustained in the wreck. Paramedics transported the remaining two occupants to a local hospital, where both were treated for injuries not considered life-threatening and were listed in stable condition.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved. Detectives are actively pursuing leads in an effort to identify the hit-and-run driver and are urging members of the public to come forward with any relevant information.

Anyone with knowledge regarding the crash or the driver’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 813-213-6130 and reference case number 26-641095. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
