Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien publicly declared his support for U.S. Senator Ashley Moody over the weekend, announcing through a direct social media video that he had personally cast his Florida ballot for the incumbent senator.
The endorsement connects one of the country’s most influential union leaders with Moody’s legislative focus on workforce development, pension protections, and industrial trades. Moody currently serves on the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, positioning her as a key figure in shaping federal labor policy.
“Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien here. Just voted in the State of Florida for the first time, and very proud to have cast a ballot for Senator Ashley Moody. Senator Moody has been extremely helpful working with the Teamsters to protect workers’ pensions, defend good-paying jobs, and support well-funded union apprenticeship programs. The Teamsters look forward to working with Sen. Moody in her role on the Senate HELP Committee to pass the Faster Labor Contracts Act and get this critical legislation signed into law to protect American workers.”
Moody moved swiftly to embrace the endorsement as confirmation of her economic agenda’s resonance with working-class voters across Florida.
“I’m proud to have earned the support of the Teamsters General President Sean O’Brien! I’ll always fight to protect hardworking Americans, support good-paying jobs, and ensure resources are available to train our next generation. It’s been great to deliver for Florida’s working families!”
Central to the union’s endorsement is Moody’s TRADES Act, a legislative proposal designed to direct federal funding toward vocational programs, technical apprenticeships, and skilled-labor development pipelines. With O’Brien’s public support secured, both parties identified a shared legislative priority: advancing the Faster Labor Contracts Act through the Senate to streamline collective bargaining timelines for organized labor.
