A man from Ann Arbor was sentenced last week for kidnapping a 12-year-old girl from Iowa, which prompted an Amber Alert in April.

Daniyal Khan was convicted in September on several crimes, including wrongful imprisonment, child stealing, and indecent contact with a child.

Khan was sentenced to 20 years in prison last week in Blackhawk County, Iowa, for kidnapping the infant from Waterloo.

Ann Arbor man met girl on Snapchat

Khan, 32, was reportedly contacting the girl on Snapchat before picking her up on Easter Sunday.

On April 5, the Waterloo Police Department in Iowa requested an Amber Alert.

That same day, authorities were informed that Khan’s vehicle had been discovered in Coloma Township, Michigan. The 12-year-old was discovered unharmed.

Later, Khan was imprisoned in Berrien County before being extradited.

According to published accounts, the defense said the girl lied to him about her age, once claiming to be 20 and then 18.

The prosecutor countered that the child told Khan she was twelve.
