Tattoo studios in Eugene, Oregon are preparing for one of their busiest traditions as the next Friday the 13th approaches.
For the second time this year, local tattoo shops will host flash tattoo events, where customers can choose from a selection of pre-designed tattoos that artists can quickly apply. The tradition has been popular in the tattoo industry since the 1990s.

In 2026, the calendar features three Friday the 13th dates, with two occurring consecutively in February and March.

Artists at Out of Step Tattoo and Gallery say the events can be exhausting but are also rewarding.
Tattoo artist Arenal Hruby explained that the focus is less about profit and more about connecting with the local tattoo community.
According to Hruby, the events give studios a chance to meet new clients and make tattooing more accessible for people who may not otherwise book an appointment.
