A fugitive wanted in Canada for a deadly double stabbing has been captured in Oregon, bringing an international manhunt to an end, authorities confirmed.
Arrest Made in Oregon After International Search
The suspect, identified as Aman Aman, also known as Aman Ramesh, was taken into custody earlier this week in Medford by U.S. Marshals. The 22-year-old made his initial appearance in federal court shortly after his arrest.
Officials say he is wanted in connection with a violent attack that occurred in Surrey, British Columbia, in December 2024.
Deadly Stabbing Left One Woman Dead
According to court documents, Aman is accused of breaking into a residence through a window and attacking two people inside. The assault followed a prior dispute with one of the victims.
Investigators said the suspect used a knife estimated to be between eight and 10 inches long during the attack.
A woman died from her injuries, while a man was seriously wounded but survived.
Facing Murder and Attempted Murder Charges
Authorities in Canada have charged Aman with second-degree murder and attempted murder. Following his arrest in Oregon, he is currently being held in custody as legal proceedings move forward.
A federal judge has ordered that he remain detained while extradition arrangements are pursued.
Co-Defendant Already in Custody
A second suspect, identified as 21-year-old Gurtaj Sing, was arrested previously in connection with the same case and remains in custody. Court records indicate that both suspects are originally from India and had attended school together.
Court Grants Religious Accommodation
During the federal court hearing, the judge approved a request allowing Aman to wear religious clothing while in custody.
Extradition Process Underway
The case will now proceed through the extradition process, which will determine when the suspect is returned to Canada to face charges.
