On This Post

A 40-year-old Oregon man has been arrested after allegedly breaking into an animal shelter and taking several dogs, authorities said.

Shelter Break-In Sparks Search

According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a reported burglary at the Coos County Animal Shelter earlier this week. Officials say the suspect, identified as Dallan J. Annon, unlawfully entered the facility and left with multiple dogs.

Following the incident, deputies issued a public alert asking residents to be on the lookout for the missing animals.

Tip Leads to Arrest

Later the same day, a local resident reported spotting both the suspect and the dogs near a McDonald’s in Coos Bay. This tip helped authorities quickly locate and apprehend Annon.

Charges Filed

Annon now faces several charges, including:

  • First-degree theft
  • Second-degree burglary
  • Second-degree criminal mischief

He was taken into custody and booked into the Coos County Jail.

Dogs Safely Returned

Authorities confirmed that all of the stolen dogs were safely recovered and returned to the shelter.

Investigation Ongoing

Officials have not released further details about the motive behind the incident, and the case remains under investigation.
