Police detain two after reports of gunfire near West 8th Street in Medford

Police in Medford, Oregon are investigating a gunfire incident reported near West 8th Street and Hamilton Street on the evening of March 11.

According to the Medford Police Department, an officer in the area heard several gunshots and quickly responded to the location. Witnesses told police they saw a white, lowered pickup truck leaving the scene shortly after the shots were fired.

Officers located physical evidence suggesting a firearm had been discharged and later spotted a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses. Two people inside the truck were detained for questioning.

Investigators believe the shots were fired during an altercation and that the gun was discharged into the air. No injuries were reported.

Authorities said the situation does not pose an ongoing threat to the public. The investigation remains active, and detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the department’s detective division.
