A new pharmacy operated by the Cow Creek Band of Umpqua Tribe of Indians has opened in Roseburg, Oregon, providing additional healthcare services to local residents at a time when several pharmacies across the state have closed.
The facility, called Cow Creek Health and Wellness Pharmacy, is located along Northwest Edenbower Boulevard next to the tribe’s health clinic. Officials say the pharmacy is open to the public and not limited to tribal members.
Lindsay Campman, speaking on behalf of the tribe, said some residents mistakenly believe the health center only serves Native American patients.
However, she explained that the clinic functions as a full-service healthcare provider and welcomes anyone in the community who wishes to receive care.
Addressing healthcare gaps in rural communities
Campman noted that both rural populations and tribal communities often face difficulties accessing basic healthcare services. The new pharmacy aims to help reduce those barriers by improving access to medications and coordinated care.
By placing the pharmacy next to the clinic, healthcare providers and pharmacists can work more closely together, allowing patients to receive more integrated treatment.
Grand opening and hours
The clinic operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A grand opening event for the pharmacy is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon, giving community members an opportunity to learn more about the services available.
Tribal leaders say the new pharmacy is intended to support residents across the Roseburg area and help strengthen healthcare access in Douglas County, Oregon.
