A vigilant neighbor helped authorities recover a stolen vehicle and arrest a suspect in a case that unfolded along Parkersburg Road, according to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded around 12:51 p.m. on March 22 after receiving a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, a deputy located a heavily damaged car and confirmed through dispatch that it had been reported stolen out of California.
Neighbor Provides Crucial Lead
While investigating, a nearby resident alerted the deputy to an unknown man on his property. The neighbor also reported seeing the same individual inside the stolen vehicle the previous day, providing a key lead in the case.
Suspect Located and Arrested
Authorities soon located the suspect, identified as 37-year-old Ernesto Romero, and took him into custody. He is facing charges of unlawful entry into a vehicle and possession of methamphetamine.
Stolen Vehicle Recovered
The stolen car was successfully recovered at the scene. Officials have not released additional details about the investigation, which remains ongoing.
