A teenager in Eugene is facing multiple charges after crashing and rolling a vehicle down an embankment near Skinner Butte on Wednesday night, according to police.

Authorities said the incident happened around 9 p.m. when an officer spotted a silver Honda Civic speeding and swerving while heading up Skinner Butte Loop. Moments later, the driver lost control of the car, which overturned several times before coming to rest down a steep embankment.

When the officer reached the crash site, the vehicle showed heavy damage, including a shattered windshield and deployed airbags. However, the driver was not immediately located at the scene.

After a brief search, officers found the driver — identified as a minor — hiding in nearby brush downhill from the crash. Police believe the teen was under the influence at the time of the incident.

The driver was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Officials said the teen now faces several charges, including driving under the influence (DUI), reckless driving, and failing to fulfill the duties required after a crash.
