Redding Man Arrested in Undercover Sting for Attempting to Meet 13-Year-Old

On This Post

WEED, Calif. — A 23-year-old man from Redding has been arrested following an undercover police operation targeting online predators, authorities confirmed.

The suspect, Jeramy Black, is accused of attempting to meet someone he believed was a 13-year-old child for sexual activity.

Undercover Sting Operation

According to the Redding Police Department, officers in Weed Police Department conducted a sting using social media and dating platforms to identify individuals seeking minors.

An undercover officer posed as a young teenager during the operation. Investigators say Black engaged in explicit conversations and arranged a meeting with the supposed minor.

Explicit Messages and Gun Photos

Police allege that Black sent sexually explicit messages during the exchange. He also reportedly shared photos of himself holding multiple firearms, raising additional concerns among investigators.

Authorities later determined that one of the weapons shown in the images had been reported stolen in a prior residential burglary.

Search Warrant Leads to Weapons Discovery

Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants to search Black’s residence in Redding. During the April 9 search, law enforcement recovered:

  • A stolen AR-15-style rifle
  • Additional firearms and high-capacity magazines
  • Firearm components linked to 3D-printed manufacturing
  • Glock-style pistol frames and unfinished AR-15 lower receivers

Police said the evidence suggests possible illegal firearm assembly activity inside the home.

 Charges Filed Against Suspect

Black is now facing multiple serious charges, including:

  • Attempting to arrange a meeting with a minor
  • Contacting a minor with intent for sexual activity
  • Lewd acts involving a child under 14
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Receiving stolen property

Ongoing Efforts to Protect Children

Authorities emphasized that operations like this are part of ongoing efforts to prevent online exploitation and remove illegal weapons from the community.

Law enforcement agencies involved say they remain committed to identifying predators and ensuring public safety.
