EWEB Opens 2026 Electric Mobility Grants in Eugene—Up to $30K Available for Projects

On This Post

The Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB) has officially opened applications for its 2026 Electric Mobility Community Grant Program, offering funding to support clean transportation initiatives.

Who Can Apply and What’s Offered

Eligible applicants include nonprofits, academic institutions, and public organizations within EWEB’s service area. Each selected project can receive up to $30,000, covering as much as 100% of project costs. EWEB plans to award three grants this year.

The application window opened on April 22, with a submission deadline of July 31.

Focus on Clean Transportation and Equity

The grants are designed to encourage the adoption of electric transportation solutions. Projects will be evaluated based on feasibility, innovation, community impact, and environmental benefits.

Special priority will be given to proposals that expand electric mobility in underserved communities—particularly areas lacking access to electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

Funding Source and Program Impact

The initiative is partly funded through the Oregon Clean Fuels Program, managed by the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. Through this program, utilities earn and sell credits tied to electric vehicle usage, reinvesting the proceeds into community-based clean energy projects.

Past Success and Ongoing Efforts

Now in its fifth year, the program has already distributed more than $540,000 across 21 projects. Previous recipients include organizations like the University of Oregon and local nonprofits working on initiatives such as EV charging stations, e-bike programs, and fleet electrification.

EWEB continues to support electric mobility through additional programs, including rebates for EV chargers, incentives for electric bikes, and car-sharing services.

Looking Ahead

Officials say the program plays a key role in helping communities transition to cleaner transportation while reducing carbon emissions.

Organizations interested in applying can find full details and application materials on EWEB’s official website.
