A Eugene man is facing numerous felony charges following an investigation into alleged child exploitation that began with a disturbing discovery at a local resort cabin.
Investigation Sparked by Guest’s Report
According to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office, the case began on April 4 when a guest reported finding suspected child sexual abuse material displayed on a television inside a cabin.
Detectives launched an investigation and later identified the suspect as Michael Stephen Beasley, 63, of Eugene.
Search Warrant Leads to Evidence Seizure
On April 21, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence on Old Dillard Road in Eugene. Authorities said multiple electronic devices were seized during the operation as part of the ongoing investigation.
The search involved assistance from several agencies, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office. An electronic detection K9 unit was also deployed to help locate digital storage devices.
Arrest and Charges
Beasley was taken into custody on April 23 without incident and booked into the Lane County Jail.
He now faces:
- 10 counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree
- 10 counts of encouraging child sexual abuse in the second degree
- 1 count related to encouraging sexual abuse of an animal
Task Force Leading the Case
The investigation is being handled by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, a specialized unit focused on identifying and prosecuting offenses involving the exploitation of minors.
Officials emphasized that the arrest is part of a broader, ongoing effort by local, state, and federal agencies to combat child exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals.
