EUGENE, Ore. — Applications are closing soon for the 15th Annual Young Women’s Fire Camp hosted by Eugene Springfield Fire, with the final deadline set for May 1.
The free, week-long camp will take place from June 22 to June 26 and is open to female-identifying youth aged 16 to 19. Only 16 participants will be selected for this hands-on training experience.
Designed to introduce young women to careers in firefighting and emergency services, the program provides participants with full firefighting gear and immersive training activities. These include practical exercises in fire response, emergency medical services (EMS), and other related fields.
Organizers say the camp focuses not only on technical skills but also on building confidence, leadership, and teamwork through physically engaging challenges.
The initiative has received recognition for its impact, including the 2021 Community Equity & Inclusion Award from the International City/County Management Association.
Interested applicants can submit their forms through the official Eugene Springfield Fire website before the May 1 deadline.
