A 21-year-old man was arrested this week after reportedly attempting to travel from Portland to Chicago with two bags of marijuana.

A flier is suspected of attempting to fly from Portland to Chicago carrying 50 pounds of marijuana. A design that could only be defined in one word by some who fly.

“Brave,” declared flyer Anthony Sedeno. “I’m not even sure how people come up with these things. I’m not sure, but they’re brave. That is a brave one.”

According to court documents, officers seized the marijuana on Sunday, May 3, after receiving a tip at the TSA checked luggage area that 20 packages of marijuana had been discovered during screening. Another piece of luggage containing marijuana belonging to the same flier was discovered, and the two suitcases combined weighed 50 pounds.

“That’s just super unheard of, and I just don’t understand why a person had that kind of audacity to attempt something like that; it’s just really dumb,” Sam Liang said.

According to court filings, the high-maintenance luggage was checked by 21-year-old Elijah Davis before being flown from Portland to Chicago by United Airlines.

Davis was arrested and allegedly told officers that he was trying to make money and didn’t realize he couldn’t travel with the marijuana to sell. Court filings show that he also informed authorities that no one else was engaged in forcing him to bring the marijuana to Chicago.

“It sounds like the 21-year-old hasn’t reached puberty yet; it’s a lesson for him. But I don’t know, guy, that’s horrible,” Sedeno replied.

Davis is now facing charges for illegal marijuana importation or exportation, illicit marijuana delivery, and unlawful marijuana possession by a person under the age of 21. Flyers told FOX 12 that all might have been averted with a little more thought.

“At least like search online, or do some background check, or do some research before attempting this,” Liang added.

“I believe he will have much more time to think about it now. I’m not sure what he’s up to with that one; I don’t understand “courageous,” “brave,” or “brave,” Sedeno remarked.

Davis was released on his own recognizance and is due in court on June 1.
