A road rage shooter has been apprehended in a Central Florida shooting.
Taylor Taft, 29, of Deltona, was identified as the shooter in a recent road rage incident on SR 415 in Volusia County.
According to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office, no one was harmed in the early morning gunfire on SR 415 near Osteen. The victim informed deputies that a white Honda Civic cut him off before brake-checking and swerving in front of him.
The victim reported that the Civic driver pulled out a black Glock handgun and pointed it at him. As the victim accelerated to gain space, he heard a loud snap and realized his rear tire had lost pressure. The Civic then exited SR 415 and left the scene, while the victim pulled over to report the incident.
Crime analysts at the Volusia County Crime Center identified a white Honda Civic that was in the area of the shooting at the time, and deputies went to the registered address. There, they interviewed Taft, who admitted to the road rage incident but denied the shooting.
Crime scene investigators discovered a circular hole in the victim’s back tire with bullet spalling pieces evident.
After obtaining a search warrant, officers discovered a Glock 48 handgun and a filled 10-round magazine in Taft’s bedroom.
Taylor Taft faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, discharging a firearm from a vehicle, and shooting into an inhabited car. He was being held at the Volusia County Branch Jail.
