Michigan State Police arrested the suspect accused of attempting to kidnap an 8-year-old girl in Brighton Township on Wednesday evening.
According to authorities, the girl was riding her bike on Rosemary Lane around 7 p.m. when she was approached by a man wearing a pest control firm ID badge and appearing to be a traveling door-to-door salesman.
The man, described as white or possibly Hispanic, encouraged the child to accompany him into the woods, where he promised her “a surprise.” The suspect then attempted to lure the girl into a nearby forested area before being confronted by her father and questioned what he was doing.
The suspect then fled the scene on a Segway-style vehicle and was last spotted near Old US-23 and Alger Drive in Brighton Township, where police apprehended and detained him without incident Thursday afternoon.
