Man apprehended for Broadway shooting

A man has been apprehended in connection with the gunfire on Broadway that injured two individuals on Friday afternoon.

On Friday, around 3 p.m., Buffalo Police officers responded to a shooting on Broadway near Strauss Street. One victim was discovered with a gunshot wound in their leg and transported to Erie County Medical Center for “serious injuries.”

According to a BPD spokesperson, approximately two hours later, a second victim arrived at Kenmore Mercy in a private vehicle. He had been shot in the neck and arm and was sent to the ECMC. According to a BPD source, the injuries “did not appear to be life-threatening.”

The victim, 27-year-old Walter Williams of Buffalo, allegedly claimed to have been shot on the west side. BPD police say they discovered he was involved in the Broadway shooting.

Williams was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. BPD said the investigation is ongoing, and Williams may face more charges.
