A 27-year-old man has been detained for his alleged involvement in the shooting of an Indianapolis mother.

According to IMPD, investigators apprehended the man after observing him leave a home in the 4500 block of Crittenden Avenue, near East 46th Street and North Keystone Avenue.

According to police, he was apprehended peacefully.

The gunshot was reported around 11:50 p.m. on November 24, 2025, in the 700 block of Turtle Creek North Drive, near Thompson Road and U.S. 31.

IMPD Capt. Rob Rider told 13News that officers responding to reports of gunshots in the area discovered the woman inside a home with multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

On November 25, the Marion County Coroner’s Office identified the lady as Amanda Sheree Jones, 26.

Rider stated that the woman’s 2-year-old child was inside the home at the time of the incident. The child was not damaged. Police confirmed that the Department of Child Services was notified.

Rider believes the event was caused by a disturbance earlier that evening. “This is such a sad, tragic scene,” Rider added. “A mother was gunned down in her house, with a two-year-old infant nearby. “It’s tragic. Detectives are working relentlessly to apprehend the perpetrator of this heinous act,” Rider stated. “Now a child doesn’t have her mother, and it’s really sad.”

Anyone with additional information on the event is requested to contact Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana at 317-262-8477.
