A woman was detained for fentanyl after showing signs of extreme nervousness during a traffic stop in Wildwood.
An officer stopped 32-year-old Karyn Ashley Osman at Stanley and Missouri Avenues around 10:50 p.m. Monday, according to an arrest report from the Wildwood Police Department. He’d noticed her orange Hyundai hatchback drive through a stop sign without coming to a complete stop before the white bar.
Throughout the traffic stop, Osman displayed signs of acute anxiousness, including continuously gripping her purse. She was also in a well-known high-crime, high-narcotics area while not being a Wildwood resident. As a result, a K-9 was utilised to detect narcotics and produced a positive alert, according to the report.
A later search of the vehicle revealed two shards of crystalline, rock-like substance in the centre console. Although initially suspected to be crystal meth, it tested positive for fentanyl. Osman later indicated that she had no idea it would be fentanyl, although the substance should have been predominantly crystal meth, according to the investigation.
Osman was arrested for fentanyl possession and lodged in the Sumter County Detention Centre. She was released after paying a $2,500 bond.
