A 26-year-old man was taken into custody after calling 911 to report that he had shot a man multiple times after a dispute in a General Motors plant parking lot Tuesday morning, police said.

Larry Hines, 26, was arrested on Tuesday morning and placed into the Arlington City Jail on one charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

At 6:35 a.m., Arlington police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of the GM assembly plant, which is located in the 2500 block of East Abram Street.

When authorities arrived, they located a 24-year-old guy with many gunshot wounds. The sufferer was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is in a stable but severe condition. Authorities have not revealed his identity.

According to detectives, Hines departed the parking area right after the incident. A short time later, he dialed 911 to notify emergency dispatchers of his involvement in the incident and provide his position.

Officers assigned to the site discovered Hines at an apartment complex in the 4100 block of Viridian Village Drive, where he was apprehended without incident.

Police eventually confirmed that Hines and the victim knew each other before the incident. Both worked the nighttime shift at the General Motors plant and were leaving when the incident occurred.

Investigators think that a verbal argument began as the two were leaving work, which developed into the shooting.

What they’re saying: GM said to FOX 4 it is cooperating with law enforcement as their investigation continues.

“We can confirm there was a shooting incident between two employees in the parking lot of Arlington Assembly Plant today, which left one of them injured. Our focus is on supporting that individual, their loved ones, and our Arlington team. We are cooperating with law enforcement and appreciate their assistance,” the company said in a statement.

Arlington Police PIO Tim Ciesco tells FOX 4’s Amelia Jones that GM’s assistance was crucial in their investigation.

“They (GM) provided evidence that was very crucial to this case. When we arrived on scene, they actually, I guess they have some type of medical staff there on scene who were already tending to the victim by the time first responders got there, no doubt that was a big help as well,” Ciesco said.

Ciesco says Arlington PD received Hines’ 911 call while providing medical assistance to the victim.

“While we were out there responding and working to get him to the hospital, we received a 911 call from a man who told dispatchers that he had been involved in the shooting, and he was calling from a different location. An apartment complex that’s not too far from the scene.”

Arlington PD is still interviewing witnesses as part of their investigation.

“That’s something our detectives are making sure they’re doing, talking with everybody who may have been in the area or identifying everybody that might have any information that they could use.”

No other injuries or property damage was recorded. The investigation is underway.
