An unlicensed driver from Honduras was nabbed Tuesday morning following a traffic stop in Center Hill.

Elbin Isaias Castillo-Perez, 38, of Orlando, was driving a silver Toyota Tacoma around 7:10 a.m. when a Sumter County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed the truck moving west through the intersection of East Kings Highway and West Kings Highway.

A routine check of the vehicle’s license plate revealed that the registered owner did not hold a valid Florida driver’s license. Noting that the driver matched the physical description of the registered owner, the deputy began a traffic stop on County Road 48 near County Road 567.

During the traffic check, the motorist showed a Honduran passport as identification. According to the arrest record, Castillo-Perez told the deputy that he had never had a driver’s license in the United States.

Castillo-Perez was handed a criminal citation for driving without a valid license. He was booked into Sumter County Detention Center and released after posting a $500 bond.
