A Florida woman recently won a $1 million top prize after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket in Orlando, according to the Florida Lottery.
Tatyana Ashe, 27, won the top prize in the AMERICA 250 FLORIDA Scratch-Off game on April 1 at Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. Ashe chose a one-time lump-sum payment of $606,600.00 for her winnings.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Wawa convenience store on 14548 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando.
AMERICA 250 FLORIDA is a $5 scratch-off game with four $1 million top prizes and an overall odds of winning of 1-in-4.01. The Florida Lottery says the game’s design “highlights Florida’s unique history and connects it to the American story,” while the visual motifs “remind participants of the state’s past and its enduring commitment to freedom.”
Under Chapter 24 of Florida Statutes, lottery winners’ names and cities of residence are public record and may be disseminated by the government after 90 days.
Since its inception in 1988, the Florida Lottery has contributed over $51 billion to state education programs, including funding for the Bright Futures Scholarship Program. The agency claims that 99 percent of its revenue is reinvested in the state economy via prize distributions, retailer commissions, and educational transfers.
