A Brookville man was sentenced to five years in prison on Friday after officials said he exchanged nude images with a 13-year-old girl and made plans to meet her in person.
Robert Marshall, 36, pled guilty on August 3 to child solicitation.
The investigation began in July, when Marshall’s landlord notified police about possible inappropriate conversations involving Marshall.
Authorities claimed they learnt shortly after that Marshall wanted to give himself in, despite the fact that the probe was still in its early stages.
Police interviewed the 13-year-old, who stated that her interactions with Marshall began with a Facebook friend request and progressed to sexually explicit communications.
The child told police that Marshall offered her nicotine in exchange for sex acts and threatened her if she declined.
According to authorities, Marshall and the girl exchanged naked photographs before agreeing to meet in person. The meeting never occurred.
In addition to serving five years in prison, Marshall will have to register as a sex offender.
